Aurat March 2021 Lahore
The Aurat March (Women’s March) is happening again this year. In Lahore, it will be on March 8th. The Aurat March is such an important event to me. It is a grass roots efforts lead by Pakistani women, with the goal of raising awareness of gender inequities and violence against women and girls in Pakistan. Every year, these women are maligned for their efforts by politicians, religious figures, and the media as being immoral.
Just a few days ago, 4 women who worked for a non-profit with the goal of empowering rural women were assassinated by terrorists in Pakistan.
The struggle for gender equality in Pakistan is a very difficult one, and I wanted to support their efforts.
I’m fundraising for them from now until this Friday via Venmo. I will be sending the amount gathered via Western Union per their preference. These funds will be used by organizers for material, supplies, security, etc. They are also planning on giving out sanitary napkins to women.
