North Texas City Council Run Offs
This Saturday, June 5, is Election Day in Texas. That’s right, the City Council races which resulted in a run-off, will be determined by Texas voters in just a few days. Local elections tend to have extremely low turnout, which is unfortunate, because who sits on your City Council, tends to impact your day to day life to the greatest degree. If you’re registered to vote, make a plan for voting this Saturday! Be sure to take your ID. In many counties, you can vote at any polling location in the county you’re registered to vote in.
Here are my choices for some of the races in North Texas:
If you voted for your City Council member in May, and there’s a run-off (no one candidate received 50 percent of the vote or more, so the top two are in a run off), you need to vote AGAIN!
Get out and vote! Your City Council makes the most impact on your day to day life. Here’s who I think makes most sense to support in these North Texas Run-Offs:
For Dallas City Council, District 2, Dr. Sana Syed
For Dallas City Council, District 13, Gay Donnell Willis For Dallas City Council, D13
For Dallas City Council, District 14, Paul Ridley for Dallas
For Arlington City Council, District 3, Diana Saleh for Arlington City Council
For Mayor of Arlington, Michael Dave Glaspie
For Carrollton City Council, Dorotha Michelle Ocker
For Richardson City Council, Arefin Shamsul
For Ft. Worth Mayor, Deborah Whitlock Peoples
For Grand Prairie City Council, Junior Ezeonu for Grand Prairie City Council
For Frisco City Council, Angelia Pelham for Frisco
For Euless City Council, Tika For Euless
For Plano City Council, Place 4 Kayci Prince, Plano City Council
For Plano City Council, Place 7 Julie Holmer
For Allen City Council, Lauren Herold Doherty
For Allen City Council, Place 5, Philip Brewer
If you’re free this Saturday and you have already voted, you can volunteer with these campaigns and help get the vote out for them!
